In
order to improve the traditional entrance examination, integrate diversified
entrance schemes, and respect the autonomy of technological and vocational
colleges and universities in recruiting students, the Ministry of Education
[MOE] develops the Multiple Entrance Program for Technological and Vocational
Education [TVE]. The program consists of five admission channels: the
Examination and Recruitment Separation Program, selection by recommendation,
selection by superior skills, application, and joint allocation.
Since the implementation of the Examination and Recruitment Separation
Program in the school year of 2001, the Testing Center for Technological
and Vocational Education [TCTE] was formed by MOE to be in charge of administration
of the TVE entrance examination. Given the new Multiple Entrance Program
for Technological and Vocational Education, students need to take the
joint entrance exam for only one time and the grade can be applied to
the five admission channels, so that students need not take different
entrance exams held by different recruitment committees and their burdens
can thus be lessened. Along with the establishment of TCTE, Committee
of Recruitment Policy Advancement for Technological Colleges and Universities
was set up to coordinate the admission procedures of TVE colleges, to
review the admission policies, and to improve the recruitment procedure.
As for the admission of individual TVE colleges, the joint recruitment
committees of colleges or the committee of individual institute are still
responsible for the recruiting and admission policies and procedures.
